Finalized Permits for Biosolids Ash Beneficial Use Facility: Chris Hardin, the Managing Director of the EEIF, has been leading the effort to permit a "first of a kind" biosolids ash beneficial use facility in central North Carolina. The design guidelines for this facility were developed based on field research and on the leaching potential of biosolids ash by UNC Charlotte. The permit drawings provide the guidelines for separation of groundwater from the biosolids structural fill and allow growing high BTU trees and grasses as biomass for pellet operations.
